We had a huge turnout to our “blue receipts” auction held Dec 20th. With prizes ranging everywhere from a 56” big screen TV to Red Box free rental coupons there were lots of items to be auctioned off. We had over 400 people come to the auction and hundreds more who saved their receipts but were just a little too late for the auction.

Employee of the Week |

The employee of the week this week is Nic Cline. Nic works in the produce department as a “produce guy.” He is neither married nor single and has no children. His favorite place to eat is Café Rio. His favorite movie is Behind Enemy Lines. For fun, Nic enjoys working on his “automobile”, and playing football and basketball. His favorite candy bar is a Kit-Kat.
If Nic could go anywhere in the world, he would go to Normandy, France to Omaha Beach. The farthest he has been from home is Northern Yellowstone. His personal philosophy is “Live fast, die fun.” When he grows up he would like to be a diesel technician or a graphic designer. If he could meet anyone dead or alive, he would like to meet Jim Carrey because “the dude is so freakin funny!” If he could go forward or backward in time he would go forward “to see when [he] dies.”
Nic has been working at Dan’s for two years and really enjoys the people he works with. His favorite thing about work is having fun with his fellow employees. The most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to Nic at work is when he “tried to scare Andy, and jumped towards him and slipped onto my butt!” Some other interesting facts about Nick include that the only nickname he has is “Nic-e-poo” given to him by Andy.

Apple-Glazed Pork Chops
2 Tbsp brown sugar
2 tsp paprika
1 tsp salt
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp ground mustard
1 tsp dried thyme
½ tsp pepper
4 boneless pork chops
2 Tbsp apple jelly
Combine the first eight ingredients; rub over both sides of pork chops. Cook in a large skillet or on an indoor grill. Coat with cooking spray and cook for five min or no longer pink in the middle. In a microwave safe bowl, heat jelly until warmed; brush over pork chops.

Ramen-Vegetable Beef Skillet
1 lb ground beef
1½ cups sliced fresh carrots
¾ cup sliced onion
1 cup water
1 cup shredded cabbage
1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
1 cup chopped green pepper
3 Tbsp soy sauce
1 pkg (3oz) beef ramen noodles
In a large skillet brown the ground beef, carrots, and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink and carrots are crisp-tender. Add the water, cabbage, mushrooms, green pepper, soy sauce, and the contents of the seasoning packet from the noodles. Break noodles into small pieces; add to pan. Cover and cook for 10 min or until liquid is absorbed and noodles are tender.
